I know it been a rough year for most of us. It has for me in my whole life has changed. Mine has come to a screeching halt!! My life changed when my friend Larry(85 years) became my responsibility 100%. I have gone through adjusting life to support him not knowing if I will make enough to support him month to month. So most of the year I have only got to dabble in art!! I closed down 1 of my studios where I would create sometimes. 1 gallery has closed it's doors and only selling online. I have not been able to do any of my planned classes because of Covid. I have taken a break from DAC to get things under control. So I have gathered almost all my art and art supplies from everywhere and was overwhelmed with finding spots for everything. I have spent the year organizing my art space and finding clever ways to arrange supplies. Even found new ways to use some supplies. isn't that what art is about? One of the things I decided to do with my supplies this year is not to be a block head!!! I took all of my rubber stamp blocks apart and trimmed them so I can use them with an acrylic block instead. It took me a while because it turned out I own over 800 stamps that I almost never used till I did this!! Now they live in 4 large binders instead of taking up space of a 8 drawer dresser. I actually have a pretty cool collection. I just wish my wrist (Carpel Tunnel) would enjoy stamping as much as I do. Although I am actually stamping on some of the old book pages. But that is a different story. Well since I was playing with the idea of stamping I decided to design a few of my own from foam board and cardboard. With the world we live in with everything we buy is delivered in a cardboard box, I figured why not recycle some of it, so I did. the picture I put above is work in progress stamps. I actually was playing with them a few weeks ago. I will be making more. they work great!!! Then I had some great ideas for my art but with the world changing in such ways that none of use could have predicted, I stopped mid-project because I did not want the meaning of the idea to get twisted into something else. So as I found time I would dabble here and there or just play with supplies. Which is half the fun anyway. I have recently started to play with a gelli plate for printing not sure I have explored that enough. But I will get back to it I am sure. I was able to play with digital art a small bit. not really something I am looking to explore any more. I was able to do a great 3D piece for a commission. Which I just Love!!! Check it out below.
